I've Got Your Back

I've Got Your Back

The following story of two soldiers is an example of selfless friendship.

During WWII, a U.S. Army group was ambushed.  A seriously wounded solider lay under the enemy's fire, unable to move.  The officer in charge determined the risk was too great for a rescue, but the wounded man's friend disregarded the order and ran to rescue his buddy.  The soldier who had disregarded the order returned, carrying his friend who had died on the field of combat.  The rescuing soldier too had been severely wounded.  The commanding officer, crying, yelled, "I told you not to go.  Now I have lost two good men.  It wasn't worth it."  The dying soldier looked up and gasped, "Sir, it was worth it, because when I got to him, he whispered, "Jim, I knew you'd come."

Ecclesiastes 4:10 (NIV): If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.  But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.
